  • Overview

    The Data Architect will have a strong knowledge of building and maintaining low latency data pipelines and warehouses, they will use this knowledge to help design systems, and enhance the capabilities of the entire development team in a leadership role. This person will work across all Lines of Business (LOBs) and teams to analyze data and data handling procedures as well as research questions regarding how various values are being derived and used in the Wunderman Data Product (WDP) systems. This position has no direct supervisory responsibilities.

    Responsibilities

    • Design and maintain systems to gather, normalize, store, and activate massive amounts of data coming in through a large variety of collection sources
    • Have a detailed knowledge of the way data flows through all of the WDP systems and help train that knowledge through the engineering and operations teams
    • Write SQL queries to gather and analyze data, research complex issues using a variety of WDP tools and resources (including both proprietary and non-proprietary software)
    • Support sales, operations, and technology with interrogation and resolution of data- and privacy-related issues
    • Be an active contributor to process development best practices, operational efficiencies and process/application documentation
    • Own data quality vision and roadmap and drive changes across all functions including sales, operations, technology, and executive management to support this vision
    • Establish and maintain feedback loop from sales, operations, technology, and executive management teams to gather input on current and future data quality and privacy priorities

    Qualifications

    • Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science or related field, or equivalent experience
    • 5+ years’ experience working people-based data at scale. Applicable fields include Marketing or Healthcare
    • Understanding of changing data privacy landscape around PII, PHI, HITRUST, GDPR, and others
    • Expert level SQL and data analysis skills
    • Solid understanding of data structures, including complex objects like JSON or Avro
    • Experience in distributed database systems like Hadoop, Redshift, or Snowflake
    • Experience in other scalable data systems like Solr, NoSQL, or Kafka
    • Passion for data quality
    • Possess strong analytical skills and the ability to solve complex problems through analytics and data-driven decision-making
    • Ability to balance thoughtful consideration of potential options with the ability to solve problems, get things done and bring people and teams along through the process
    • Strong time management and organizational skills to produce quality and timely work
    • Self-directed, proactive, independent thinker, with an ability to learn quickly and make sound business decisions
    • Ability to operate independently, juggle multiple tasks and projects simultaneously in a results oriented environment
    • Aptitude to author and present product / system requirements documents, including associated business justifications
    • Working knowledge of product / system development and evaluation processes
