  • Overview

    As an Account Director, you will have account management responsibilities for existing clients. As a senior member of the Merchant Services team you will not only be the primary point of contact for your clients, but you will also be depended upon to provide strategic insight, thought leadership and innovation in our clients’ business.  Through consultative selling you will create comprehensive, compelling, and effective proposals which successfully pair Wunderman Data Product’s leading direct marketing solutions with your client’s unique needs.  The direct marketing solutions you will be focused on selling will primarily include mid to large size clients.  This role reports to the VP of Sales and works closely with our operations and technology teams. This key role provides an opportunity to learn about and interact with all parts of the direct marketing ecosystem with an emphasis on the use of data and analytics to build bespoke audiences.  In this key role, as an Account Director, you will also be called upon to providing valuable insight, ideas and inspirational leadership for the Merchant Services team.  You will also be given the opportunity to represent Wunderman Data Products by speaking at industry trade shows, mentor other employees, and help drive future product development.

    Responsibilities

    • Meet or exceed all sales and business development goals by ensuring clients purchase products and services that meet their needs and effectively following up
    • Maintain an accurate 90 day sales and pipeline report in CRM at all times
    • Identify, develop, and lead strategic sales efforts to large brand advertisers
    • Must have a positive attitude, be assertive, and aspire to be the best
    • Help foster an energized, collaborative, and entrepreneurial environment
    • Self-directed travel as needed to achieve your goals (up to 40%)
    • Any other duties as assigned by management
    • Be expert on current in trends and developments in online advertising and related industries
    • Create comprehensive, compelling, and effective proposals
    • Speak at two industry events per year
    • Provide leadership and act as a liaison with other Wunderman Data, Wunderman Network, and WPP companies

    Qualifications

    Desired Skill Set

      1. Excellent written and oral communication skills
      2. Ability to clearly speak and present in front of large audiences and small groups, senior executives, Fortune 500 businesses and multi-disciplined account teams
      3. Proven expertise in the use of data for effective targeting marketing and advertising
      4. Expertise in current trends and developments in digital advertising and targeted marketing
      5. Self-directed, self-motivated
      6. Strong problem solving and analytical skills
      7. Flexible, resourceful, creative and open-minded, seeking to satisfy client and agency needs with a solution that Wunderman Data Products can deliver

     

     

     

    Requirements:

    • Bachelor's degree required and/or equivalent work experience
    • MBA or post-graduate degree a plus
    • 7+ years’ experience in direct response data related industries (worked for a broker, worked as circulation person in any vertical or account management role) required
    • Proven experience in account management within direct marketing industry
    • Demonstrated experience leading sales efforts on large client engagements
    • Proven track record of meeting or exceeding quotas
    • Ability to take direction, manage tasks, and make good decisions with minimal supervision
    • Have excellent communication, presentation and listening skills with strong executive presence and build relationships at executive level with your clients
    • Be flexible and resourceful
    • Ability to effectively set expectations and manage upward and downward communication
    • Exceptional organizational, analytical and creative problem solving skills
    • Seen as advisor and consultant at highest levels with client organization
    • Strong builder of relationships both internal & external
    • Ability to forecast revenues
    • Ability to identify trending issues and be proactive with suggestions on how to resolve them
    • Must be willing to travel as the job dictates
    • Must be willing to present at a minimum of two industry events per year
    • Other duties as assigned by management
