  • Overview

    Wunderman St. Louis, a 2018 Top Workplaces winner, is looking for a Technical Project Manager who supports the practice area accountable for managing projects within the Technology Solutions organization.  This role works closely with the PMO, Client Delivery Services, Campaign Strategy, Account Services, BI, Software Development,  and Architecture teams, and effectively builds relationships across the organization.

    Responsibilities

    • Support and manage multiple projects, clients, and personalities in a highly organized and detail-oriented manner.  Maintain Service Desk as a knowledge base that can be leveraged by all Technology Solutions team members.  Organize heavy workloads around busy times of year, coordinating the necessary dialogue to ensure foundation files, suppression updates, and mail file generation are ready on time for the beginning of the marketing season.
    • Understand all aspects of the MIS database solution and assess how marketing programs and initiatives will impact current client implementations.  Write simple queries to facilitate research into open tickets as well as validate and test enhancements and changes to the database solution.
    • Negotiate priorities between account management, technical resources, and sales, while evaluating both internal and external factors such as revenue opportunity, cost savings, client relationship, etc.
    • Utilize effective communication skills in all directions with emphasis on timeliness and expectation management.  Proactively follow up on all assigned tasks and alert account management to any roadblocks or delays affecting the timeline.  Provide options and back-up strategies as required to mitigate any effect to clients.
    • Participate in and maintain understanding of research and development.  When appropriate, act as liaison with account management and the development team to confirm the requirements and that the solution meets the needs of all parties.  Meet regularly with account management to learn about upcoming marketing initiatives and client requests to help set priority with regards to items on the R&D list.
    • Demonstrate excellent negotiation skills.  Principled negotiation should be the tactic of choice for the TPM.  This method is most suitable in contrast to soft or hard negotiation methods, because it seeks mutual cooperation between the director and project stakeholders.  The TPM will be expected to deliver better, faster, cheaper, but since it is typically not possible to have all three, the TPM must negotiate to decide which aspects of a system will be considered first, and under what conditions.
    • Analyze a multitude of technical and strategic issues to quickly find effective, practical solutions.
    • Collaborate at the big-picture business development level, as well as at the detailed architecture level.
    • Make fact-based decisions, rather than relying on emotional supposition or rumor.  Conduct fact finding, establish root cause, and address root cause with a proposed resolution.  Prevent stress/emotion from negatively affecting team morale.  Work to minimize internal politics.
    • Build balanced relationships and create positive morale across the team. 
    • Exhibit patience, resilience, and flexibility, quickly adapting to the way the project stakeholders operate in order to best achieve desired results and meet goals.
    • Support an open environment conducive to freely sharing information and ideas.

    Qualifications

    • 3-10 years of experience in project management, preferably in a marketing environment.
    • Bachelor’s degree required.
    • Competent knowledge of project and program management and the associated methodologies, techniques, processes and approaches.
    • Specific knowledge as it relates to database development and marketing data-related offerings preferred.
    • Strong technical background and working knowledge of SQL.
    • Strong Microsoft Project and MS Office skills.
    • Ability to communicate effectively and appropriately with clients and internal team members.
    • Ability to juggle multiple goals and deadlines.
    • Proven team-building skills; experience facilitating teams and clients.
    • Critical decision-making skills with the ability to influence other stakeholders.
    • Must have a focus on detail and driving results.
    • Ability to build a strong internal network and relationships.
    • Ability to impact and influence project outcomes.
    • Superior problem solving ability.
