  • Overview

    This role is the lead evangelist and visionary for the Development discipline at Wunderman DC.  Supervise, direct and develop the company’s digital Development team, capabilities and service offerings. This includes managing the Development staff responsible for internal and external web, application and systems Development projects, as well as ownership, updating and improving of Development procedures and processes.

    Responsibilities

    Department Leadership and Process Optimization

    • Act as lead point of contact for: internal and external education of Development concerns, Development of best practices, ongoing Development innovation
    • Analyze existing development operations and agency operations that impact or influence development and make recommendations for the improvement and growth
    • Educate the department and agency on SDLC basics, best practice trends and technology breakthroughs
    • Department operational planning, organization and negotiation the allocation of Development resource
    • Assess skills and qualifications of existing staff and ensure proper alignment with assignment, and proper staffing against future work.
    • Assess skills and experience of incoming candidates of the Development team and evaluate value of hire/placement
    • Manage the work flow and work assignments for the Development team
    • Assist in managing profitability and billability of the Development Department
    • Assist in personnel training and Development
    • Mentor developers and QA analysts, and conduct semi-annual performance evaluations

     Project Level Responsibilities

    • Oversee, direct and manage Development projects
    • Work with project managers to determine timeline and level of effort for individual projects
    • Work with stakeholders to define business and systems requirements for new technology implementations
    • Conduct feasibility studies and testing on wireframes and designs
    • Oversee requirements delivery, task management and QA related to all web projects
    • Architect solution stack in collaboration with project’s tech lead
    • Ensure timely delivery of projects
    • Develop business case justifications and cost/benefit analyses for spending and initiatives
    • Work with vendors and Wunderman IT on the purchase of equipment and supplies in order to meet operational requirements of the business
    • Determine infrastructure and security status and needs, and work with SVP/Director, Creative Technology to mitigate any gaps.
    • Represent the agency’s technology capabilities to executive leadership, clients and prospective clients

     

    Qualifications

    • Bachelor’s degree in the field of information systems or related, and 5-8 years experience in the web development/software development field
    • 2-5 years’ experience managing Development teams
    • Extensive experience with programming and coding web sites (either using server-side or client-side technologies)
    • Extensive experience with back-end and network systems infrastructure, including database servers and systems
    • In-depth knowledge of applicable data privacy practices and laws
    • Familiarity with Sarbanes-Oxley IT Controls
