    Director: Direct Marketing, United States Navy

     

    Position Overview:

    Wunderman is the official experiential AOR for the United States Navy. We are part of a large integrated team servicing the Navy’s recruiting efforts.  Other integrated aspects of the all Navy Partnership are Advertising, Media, Social, Digital, Data, Direct, PR, Diversity and Call Center.

    The Director, Direct Marketing will be based in Memphis. He/she will be an experienced, hardworking professional who can manage and execute Direct Marketing campaigns via Email and Direct Mail marketing channel.  Additionally, this person will work with the VP, Data & Analytics on the go- to- market strategic planning for all channel specific acquisition executions.

     

    Responsibilities

     

    • Establish credibility and a leadership role by gaining a thorough understanding of the client’s industry, business objectives and unique offerings quickly
    • Must have high - level understanding of ESP and various email platforms like Exact Target Silverpop, Responsys, etc.
    • Manage & execute email programs using best practices
    • Work with various marketing channel owners to implement CRM strategy
    • Responsible for budget, setting KPIs and testing goals across the email & direct mail channel
    • Look for customer acquisition opportunities
    • Develop the email templates to continuously keep on top of new trends in email marketing + improve key metrics
    • Manage the end to end direct mail & email process, from concept to post-send reporting
    • Report key metrics / success / opportunity on a monthly basis to senior management and proactively make changes based on learnings
    • Work closely with the graphic designer for email template d (briefing, workload, review)
    • Own the global direct mail and email calendar and ensure it’s up to date
    • Consistently research and propose strategic enhancements and optimizations within the client’s Direct Marketing & CRM programs
    • Assist in development of highly effective creative
    • Oversee negotiation of partnerships with various third-party vendors
    • Manage data procurement and processing within the client’s legacy lead management system
    • Manage the SOW for annual planning, and various projects
    • Manage an Account Executive based in Chicago who is responsible for the day to day deliverables, internal & external

     

    Qualifications

     

    Qualifications:

    • Minimum 8 years’ experience in a client services/account management role within a Direct Marketing agency (preferred), digital agency, marketing company, or client-side marketing department
    • Minimum 5 years Email marketing experience
    • Excellent relationship building skills – can work collaboratively across all internal departments & with partner agencies
    • Excellent communicator with strong presentation skills
    • Able to adapt to rapidly changing expectations with a professional, calm and resilient demeanor
    • Resourceful - Problem solver mentality.
    • Future ready with knowledge of current and/or emergent marketing technologies
    • Must be a U.S. Citizen
