About the role:                                                          

This position will be collaborating with the MileagePlus Loyalty Team to develop and deliver best-in-class integrated marketing programs which optimize MileagePlus revenue and profitability. Responsibilities include execution and maintenance of promotions and communications for MileagePlus members and flyers of United Airlines to increase program engagement.  This individual is responsible for executing primarily across email, direct mail and digital channels. 


Duration of Assignment: mid-May through mid-November


Location: position is based on-site with client in Chicago, must be located in Chicago


  • Execute and maintain direct marketing campaigns via email, direct mail, and digital channels in an efficient and effective manner to generate a positive ROI and enhance member engagement
  • Serve as project manager for all promotions and programs, managing communication strategy, creative development process, production schedules, approval processes, and budgets
  • Communicate the status of programs on an on-going basis to stakeholders
  • Ensure all member communications are consistent with MileagePlus brand and communication guidelines as well as United Airlines and MileagePlus’ overall corporate strategy
  • Ensure marketing programs meet Partner communication and brand guidelines, as appropriate
  • Ensure campaigns are effectively targeted in order to deliver highly relevant offers to customer groups and to appropriately manage audience overlap from various promotions
  • Coordinate with MileagePlus Analytics to conduct and deliver standard post-promotion analysis on promotion effectiveness including ROI analysis (on a segment and total audience basis), test vs. control, and results vs. prior programs
  • Partner with MileagePlus business stakeholders to maintain integrated marketing calendars
  • Work closely with outside agencies to ensure program and promotion objectives are shared and supported
  • Work closely with other internal stakeholders such as IT, loyalty operations, customer service, and e-commerce
  • Continuously drive for improved technology and efficiency
  • Responsible for ensuring delivery of campaigns on time, on budget, with high quality and low errors


  • At least 5-7 years experience within an agency or client setting, Airline/travel experience highly preferred
  • Strong understanding of brands with proven experience in delivering digital business strategy globally
  • Exceptional analytical and conceptual skills
  • Outstanding client interaction skills, especially with senior client members
  • Exceptional verbal, written communication and negotiation skills
