Overview

This position is responsible for the development, administration, scalability, deployment, and maintenance of Wunderman Data Products development and production MySQL database systems in a multi-datacenter, high-availability, high volume environment. Administration of multiple replication schemes to include master-master, chained slaves, and master-slave to ensure flow of production data to data warehouses.

Responsibilities

  • Contribute to a distributed MySQL server architecture and design project
  • Perform MySQL database administration tasks in a Linux environment, including maintenance, troubleshooting, tuning, optimization, installation, upgrades, backup/recovery, and data migration.
  • Recommend and implement MySQL high availability, high volume, and clustered solutions
  • Architect, design, develop, analyze, extract, load, and maintain MySQL databases using MySQL, stored procedures, and Unix shell scripts
  • Additional responsibilities include but are not limited to supporting and mentoring development team on best database query practices and code reviews
  • Work closely with software development to design and implement optimal solutions
  • Management and configuration of Aerospike, SOLR, and other leading large data repositories.
  • Maintain database design documentation
  • Work with members of Operations to provide reports and troubleshooting of client facing product.
  • Potentially administer and develop solutions using Oracle and/or SQL Server
  • Develop and maintain supporting documentation for capacity planning.
  • Consistently meet deadlines and schedules by working closely with the production team.

 

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in computer science or related IT field preferred
  • 4+ years’ experience designing and administering MySQL databases
  • Proven experience with multiple replication schemes and recovering production data.
  • Exceptional MySQL production database administration and tuning skills
  • Unix shell scripting
  • Experience managing multiple instances of MySQL on single boxes and AWS.
  • Hands-on, motivated self-starter with ability to take direction and manage tasks with minimal supervision within an energized, collaborative and entrepreneurial environment
  • A high level of enthusiasm for working in an entrepreneurial environment
  • Excellent communication skills (verbal, written, listening)

  • PHP Development experience
  • Data modeling and design
  • Microsoft SQL Server, T-SQL, and Reporting Services experience
