Overview

The Senior Copywriter is responsible for generating and developing concepts and ideas that meet the requirements of the brief. Senior Copywriters have a proven ability to translate a marketing strategy into compelling creative concepts, and ensure that client's goals are met when developing and executing ideas. Overall, the Senior Copywriter participates in all aspects of a project from concept development through preparing the final copy deliverables in all marketing channels, ensuring that the work is consistent with a brand’s voice and tone. The Senior Copywriter position includes supervisory responsibilities over Copywriters and Junior Copywriters.

 

Responsibilities

 

·In collaboration with his/her Creative lead and art directors, the Senior Copywriter is responsible for creating       campaigns and concepts across marketing channels that are on strategy and meet the communications’ objectives

·Responsible for insuring copy written for projects is consistent with brand voice and equities

·Responsible for writing headlines and body copy for all forms of traditional advertising, email, web sites and  landing pages, online advertising units, video, animations and other copy needs.

·Involved in all aspects of final production of creative projects to which he/she
 is assigned

·Manage, mentor and supervise Copywriters and Junior Copywriters

·Supervise other copywriters working on his/her projects or accounts

·Work in a team environment with art director, account management and project management

·Participate in presenting work internally and to clients

·Consult with the Project Managers on assignments of staff across the various clients and accurately provide  design time estimates.

·Interest in new technologies and emerging trends    

 Be attuned to and knowledgeable of societal and cultural trends

Qualifications

 

  • BA degree or equivalent work experience required
  • Minimum of 5+ yrs. relevant experience in an agency environment
  • Excellent copywriting abilities; must be grammatically competent and literate
  • Strong conceptual thinker
  • Managerial experience with junior copywriters
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills
  • Strong presentation skills
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Word, Powerpoint a plus
  • Strong knowledge of the mechanics of writing: punctuation, spelling, structure and organization 
  • Proven ability to work in a team environment with art director, account management and production
  • Able to accept constructive internal and/or client comments with regard to concepts and copy
  • Ability to juggle assignments and work maintain highly organized, detail oriented work while working within deadlines
  • Strong working knowledge of HTML, CSS and other common technologies
  • Ability to keep organized files and back-up of all jobs
  • Strong portfolio showing a range of styles and relevant experience
