Overview

Our rapidly growing Toronto office is currently seeking a savvy Strategist to join our thriving strategy & planning team. This position will report into the SVP, Director Strategy and is located in our downtown Toronto office.  The successful candidate will be part of a community of other strategists, planners and analysts in our Toronto and Vancouver offices.  Along with a Sr. Digital Strategist this role will mainly focus on servicing the GSK consumer health business, a portfolio of sixteen brands such as Buckley’s, TUMs, Voltaren, Sensodyne, Pronamel, and Abreva, but could extend to other brands within our client list, such as IKEA and BMW.
 
At Wunderman, the Strategist is a multi-disciplinarian but also a digital native, bringing professional experience and across many parts of digital marketing spectrum from prior strategy or planning roles. They are passionate about understanding human behaviour and are obsessed with how media, technology, creativity and design are reshaping interactions between people and brands. They love digging into research to uncover consumer, cultural and category truths that inform great insights.  They are equally experienced driving journey maps, persona development, and digital communications plans. They are able to operate both conceptually and analytically to drive and inspire successful creative idea and technology solutions while leveraging data to uncover insights and establish in-market drivers of performance. 
 
These skills will be applied to the development of strategic solutions rooted in digital marketing, across all forms of digital advertising, website, content marketing, social media marketing, email marketing, and digital brand activations.

Responsibilities

  • Along with a Sr. Digital Strategist and a broader agency core Team GSK, you will be responsible for the delivery of strategic solutions against, primarily, a busy multi-brand (16) GSK consumer health account.
  • As a brand builder, you understand and have experience in helping traditional brands evolve into the digital realm.
  • As a consumer champion, you understand and have experience in how consumers approach and engage with brands digitally and are a builder of satisfying, engaging and consistent brand experiences across multiple digital touchpoints. You have a natural cultural curiosity – tapped into what’s going on, what people are doing, liking, joining, sharing, and why, with an innate curiosity and ability to connect information from disparate sources.
  • You are a strong strategic thinker who is able to both uncover big ideas that inspire and excite internal and client teams and also able to work with teams from conceptual strategy through to the framing of tangible marketing solutions.  You do this by developing consumer personas, detailed journey maps, consumer, brand and cultural truths that inform insights, and multi-channel digital communication strategies.  Please note that samples of your previous work in these areas may be requested as part of the evaluation process.
  • You will be required to intake client briefs and develop actionable agency briefs.
  • You will conduct competitive reviews to gain insights and drive innovation.
  • You will collaborate with business/performance analysts to devise measurement frameworks.
  • Ideally you are also familiar with the principals of UX, CRM and Loyalty.

Qualifications

  • 5-8 years of successful experience ideally working in an agency environment, with a focus area in digital strategy.
  • Ideally, an undergraduate university degree or community college diploma with a focus on marketing.
  • Experienced at working on multiple assignments at once: able to regularly switch gears from brand to brand; able to partner and manage work with other team members.
  • Excellent and persuasive communication skills: able to author, design and deliver detailed strategic content in PowerPoint or Keynote; able to clearly articulate and sell your strategies in relatable and convincing ways. Please note that you may be asked to demonstrate these as part of the evaluation process.
  • You are able to process large amounts of client documentation, various sources of research and translate into digital strategies that align with the client’s business goals.
