Due to growth, we are seeking an Associate Director, Human Resources to join the Wunderman team. Serves as an expert in a variety of areas of Human Resources for Wunderman’s Minneapolis Office. Manages and executes the day-to-day people activities and ensures office success by providing talent management guidance to the leadership team, and implementing initiatives from the center at the local level.


  • Manage day-to-day HR activities and operations of Minneapolis office including but not limited to recruiting, on-boarding, performance management, employee recognition, internship program, culture initiatives, separations, etc.
  • Ensure agency is following appropriate people practices and processes in compliance with federal and state labor laws
  • Work closely with the NA HR team to support population needs and ensure consistent company-wide practices are implemented
  • Support, communicate and enforce agency policies and procedures to staff
  • Partner with Director of Talent Management to lead talent reviews and succession planning, including preparing necessary documents, training leaders on the process, driving talent calibration meetings and succession planning conversations, and reporting results
  • Partner with office leadership team and Director of Talent Management on semi-annual salary reviews
  • Manage talent moves, including internal employee transfers, promote-to-vacancy requests and inter-company transfers; provide compensation recommendations based on market data and employee history; secure appropriate approvals
  • Drive YOU Time performance conversations; train managers and employees on performance management strategy and tools; coach managers and employees on developing goals and writing/delivering feedback
  • Advise managers on creating development plans and performance improvement plans for employees who are not meeting expectations
  • Coach employees and managers to address and resolve employee relations issues
  • Investigate claims of discrimination and harassment, policy violations, ethics violations and the like; take appropriate disciplinary action
  • Manage involuntary employee exits, including securing legal guidance, preparing agreements, and advising on talking points for termination meetings
  • Monitor attrition data and exit themes and keep business and department leads appraised of trends, areas for improvement and new opportunities.
  • Lead talent initiatives as required


  • Bachelor’s degree in related field of study or equivalent HR work experience
  • Minimum 7 years of progressive track record in Human Resources, with at least 1-2 years’ experience as stand-alone generalist
  • SHRM-CP or SHRM-SCP certification preferred
  • Excellent interpersonal skills, communication skills and judgment coupled with high degree of integrity and trust; able to successfully partner with office leaders and managers to effectively address issues, develop solutions and implement programs
  • Expertise in recruiting, employee relations, and performance management
  • Required experience working with seasonal/temporary staff
  • Ability to analyze HR data and metrics to recommend potential solutions or areas of focus and next steps that impact overall business goals
  • Solid understanding of HR standards, employment laws and policies
  • Ability to maintain confidentiality and discretion at all times
  • Computer literacy and familiarity with Microsoft Office Suite applications
    (MSWord, Excel and PowerPoint)
  • Develop positive employee relations by responding to all employee questions and concerns in a timely and thorough manner
