Overview

This position is responsible for the administration, scalability, deployment, and maintenance of KBMG’s development and production MySQL database systems in a global high-availability, high volume environment.  A great candidate for this role would be someone who has experience as a MySQL Database Administrator and would like to expand their experience in the enterprise level database management/administration field.

Responsibilities

  • Perform on-site, day-to-day production MySQL database administration tasks in a Linux environment, including maintenance, troubleshooting, tuning, optimization, installation, upgrades, backup/recovery, and data migration across multiple data centers and multiple data server architectures/systems
  • Troubleshoot and resolve production database issues
  • Maintain database design/release documentation
  • Contribute to a distributed MySQL server architecture and design project
  • Recommend and implement MySQL high availability, high volume, and clustered solutions
  • Work with Sr. staff to architect, design, develop, analyze, extract, load, and maintain MySQL databases using MySQL, stored procedures, and Unix shell scripts
  • Work closely with Engineering and Sr. DBA to design and implement optimal solutions
  • Develop and maintain supporting documentation for capacity planning.
  • Consistently meet deadlines and schedules by working closely with the production team.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in computer science or related IT field preferred
  • Experience with MySQL replication and partitioning technologies
  • 3+ years’ experience designing and administering MySQL databases
  • Unix shell scripting
  • Hands-on, motivated self-starter with ability to take direction and manage tasks with minimal supervision within an energized, collaborative and rapidly changing environment
  • A high level of enthusiasm for working in a rapidly changing environment
  • Excellent communication skills (verbal, written, listening)
  • Relevant industry certifications a plus

  • Experience with LAMP stack
  • Experience with Open Source, Big Data and NoSQL technologies
  • Other database administration experience
  • Other Information Technology experience
