Overview

The Senior Desktop Administrator ensures proper computer operations so that end users can accomplish organizational tasks. Support is provided on a daily basis and sometimes emergent basis in on-call situations to assure continued productivity and communication. This position is somewhat unique as it includes some tasks that are usually handled by systems administrators, such as setting and modifying accounts, mailboxes and permissions. Senior Desktop Administrators are expected to demonstrate leadership in leading other team personnel, creating, managing and delivering team projects, and in the creation and review of written documentation produced for the team as well as end users.

Responsibilities

  • General Support Provide support to customers in person, over the telephone, and through remote support systems
  • Create and maintain user, service and computer accounts, mailboxes and groups (security and distribution) in a Microsoft Active Directory/Exchange environment
  • Adhere to all company security practices, policies and procedures to safeguard company resources
  • Assist in providing training to end users in the use of corporate software systems
  • Provide hardware troubleshooting and failure determination; replace or arrange replacement of failed components PCs/Laptops/Mobile Devices
  • Installation and configuration of computer images via Microsoft SCCM 2012 or other means Installation and /or removal of software packages, updates/upgrades
  • Provide assistance and troubleshooting to users in the use of PC equipment and mobile devices
  • Maintain inventory of all PC hardware and software in the appropriate systems Telecommunications Installation and configuration of Mobile Device Management (MDM) software on mobile devices
  • Assignment of desk phones and voicemail configuration in phone system
  • Work with telecommunications providers to maintain service levels

Qualifications

  • Minimum of 5 years providing technical support and/or systems administration
  • Extensive problem solving skills and the ability to quickly learn and implement new technology
  • Exceptional oral and written communications skills Exceptional interpersonal skills, with a focus on rapport-building, listening, questioning, and explanation skills
  • Strong documentation skills used in ticket tracking systems and in creating instructional documentation for the team and end users
  • Experience with personal operating systems such as Windows 7, 8/8.1, 10; exposure to server operating systems Windows 2008/2012
  • Use of Active Directory 2008/2012 in account creation and maintenance tasks
  • Ability to work independently and/or as part of a team

 

  • DESIRED QUALIFICATIONS, KNOWLEDGE AND EXPERIENCE
  • Exposure to security technologies such as Mobile Device Management (MDM), Data Loss Prevention (DLP), end-point encryption, antivirus, and malware removal
  • Use of Microsoft Group Policy Objects (GPO) for user and system management
  • Knowledge of systems management/CMDB software such as Microsoft SCCM and ServiceNow
  • Experience troubleshooting PCs and network/internet connectivity
  • Experience supporting Microsoft Office applications and other productivity and communications applications Experience with maintaining, deploying and troubleshooting virtualized infrastructure and VMWare
  • Knowledge and experience utilizing remote access technologies such as Citrix and VPN
  • PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS Ability to work in a seated position for an extended period of time.Ability to lift and carry moderately heavy objects (~30 lbs.) such as computers, printers and peripherals.
